I recently stumbled across Eco Tycoon: Project Green, a PC game that is environmental propaganda poorly disguised as a business simulator. In it you are given absolute control of a continent, may force draconian environmental policies on your citizens, mold an eco-friendly infrastructure, coerce world leaders into emulating you, and adopt eco-friendly technology in every facet of daily life. In doing so, you will literally save Earth by changing “the way the planet is run” and push the human race toward a more environmentally friendly lifestyle. Basically, it’s an environmentalist’s wet dream. The game sounded like an unusual twist on a childhood classic, with the eco-Mussolini-esque theme intriguing, and the price seemed practical, so I took a chance and brought home a copy.

BioWare delivers a vigorously imagined and masterfully implemented epic. Mass Effect 2 is a must have title.
The Godfather. Slaughterhouse-Five. Star Wars.
Mass Effect.
We’ll say it outright: Mass Effect 2 is one of the most inspired, personal, and boldly conceived games we’ve ever played. In fact, saying that we played it almost does a disservice to ME2s transcendent qualities. For a video game, it is executed almost perfectly on every level, and improves upon its predecessor in every way. But Mass Effect 2 is much more than a video game. It is a deeply engrossing, emotional, and exciting experience that sucks you in from the opening trailer and holds you all the way to the ominous ending. BioWare has proven that video games can stand beside compelling works of art, film, and literature, and provide us with ambitious, meaningful storytelling. It is a must-play for almost anyone who enjoys video games, and even those unfamiliar with gaming.

Looking back, Left 4 Dead 2 came out of nowhere. Fully expecting Valve to take their usual sweet time between titles, a good portion of the original L4D community (including us) was looking forward to some substantial DLC following the launch of Valve’s new zombo-apocalyptic IP. Left 4 Dead 2 was such a shock that eventually over 40,000 people would join a “L4D 2 Boycott” group on Steam. As you can tell from our short analysis, Valve knocked one out of the park with Left 4 Dead 2. Read on to find out why.
